UIL Solo & Ensemble competition

Of all these students, the Memorial High School Titan Choir will be taking 14 students to the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Competition held on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin where we expect even better results.

These brilliantly talented students were tasked with preparing songs from memory that covered a vast amount of repertoire; varying in style, foreign language, genre, and musical period. Amongst the student selections included songs in Italian, German, and French. The students covered musical genres in the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and even the Contemporary musical periods; exposing them to repertoire even college level music majors have not experienced.

Students also received rave reviews from the judges:
“Excellent preparation!”
“You are a gifted singer.”
“Very strong voice!”
“Just lovely! Very beautiful! You have a wonderful instrument!”
“Great voice! Love the power you have! High notes excellent!”
“What a lovely voice! A difficult song to sing with that strange accompaniment but you did a fine job! Very expressive singing”
“You are treasures – gifts to your community.”
