Update on Graduation

Campus and Central Administrators have heard the concerns of parents on social media, email, phone calls, etc. Additionally, a group of parents met with administrators today and shared sentiments from the collective voice of parents and students.

Update on School Closure

Governor Abbott released a statement that schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. We are currently in counsel with TEA to determine how to move forward to complete this school year. Our Superintendent will post a video Monday that will speak directly to our community and address all of your concerns. We received this announcement at the same time as you, therefore, we ask for patience as we work through all scenarios to assist our students and staff with closing out this school year.

The PAISD Board of Trustees will hold a Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees via teleconference on May 28, 2020. Open Meeting is at 6:30 pm.

Schools Closed Beginning March 17

Effective March 17, 2020 all facilities and campuses of the Port Arthur Independent School District will be closed until further notice. Parents and students are asked to obtain course work which will be placed on the district and campus websites. Students are encouraged to keep up with coursework while the district facilities are closed. The educational advancement of PAISD students is of utmost concern while we navigate the next several weeks.

The district will update parents and staff regarding the next steps and expected reopening of the district facilities.

Parade of Graduates Ceremony

Recognizing how significant graduation ceremonies are, the Port Arthur ISD administration and staff has planned a vehicle “PARADE OF GRADUATES” to take place Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 10:00 am. The plan will align with Governor Abbott’s orders, CDC guidelines, and applicable local orders.

College Courses for WECHS Students

College courses for WECHS students will be converted to online format through the Blackboard learning management system. All students attending classes at LSCPA are required to access course content and complete course requirements.
