Wheatley School of Early Childhood Programs

Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) strives to create a desire for learning in the young child.  Children are given opportunities to work in small groups as they develop a readiness for formal educational tasks.  They are taught compensatory skills for areas of need and guided through developmental tasks promoting each child’s ability to manage his/her unique own behaviors and social interactions within his peer group.  Each child is recognized for his/her unique differences in growth and development, capacity to learn, interest and creativity.

Eligibility:

        ~Age three through five years

        ~Disability as identified through assessment

Program Goal:  To provide educational opportunities focused on enhancing language communication skills and to assist the child in the actualization of his/her self worth in the relationship to individual strengths and needs.  It is also the goal of these programs to assist the students in transition into the main-stream of the educational process.

Classroom Arrangements:

PPCD classes – Sessions are held from 8:30 a.m.- 2:45 p.m.
