Thinking Maps have been implemented on all campuses. Teachers have done an EXCELLENT job with the initial roll-out. All teachers are asked to complete the Thinking Maps survey to be emailed to all by Friday, December 7, 2007. The survey closed on Tuesday, December 18, 2007.

Texas Adolescent Literacy Academies (TALA) for Teachers in grades 6-8 will host Content Area Academies for teachers of mathematics, science, and social studies. Texas Math Diagnostic System (TMDS)--New items aligned to TEKS are currently being developed. Two phase review process includes: (1) Online review by educators across the state; (2) Face-to-face review by educator committee. In December 2007 existing items will be removed from databank and replaced with newly developed items. Student id change include locally-district generated student id numbers.

 

TAKS Math Study Guides Information:

Grades 6-11 study guides have been revised and will be sent to districts in spring 2008.

Grades 3-5 study guides are currently being revised and will be sent to districts in spring 2009.

Currently accepting input from educators on the grades 3-5 based on the TEKS refinement.

 

 

 

 

 

ELA and Reading TEKS adopted by SBOE May 23, 2008 for Fall 2009 Implementation.

Spanish LA presented to SBOE for first reading and filling authorization July 2008. Public comment period August 2008 with final adoption by SBOE scheduled for September 2008.

EOCT will be implemented for the freshmen class of 2011-2012. The EOCT will replace the TAKS. More details are forthcoming. The field testing schedule is as follows:

To graduate on the Recommended & Distinguished HS Plan, a student must attain a cumulative score > 270 on all the EOCT for each subject (e.g. Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II).

To graduate on the Minimum Plan, a student must attain a cumulative score > 140.

Students must score at least 60 for the score to count towards their cumulative score.

Students scoring below 60 may retake the assessment each time it is administered.

Students scoring below 70 must receive accelerated instruction.

The goal of SSI is to ensure that all students receive the instruction and support they need to be academically successful in mathematics and reading.
