SCHOLARSHIP RECOGNITION & PUBLICATION
Seniors, if you have received notification that you are the recipient of a scholarship from a university, college, church, or other organization, and would like it to be included in the Awards Program and printed in the Graduation Program you must submit the following to Mrs. Hudson in office D126 by May 11, 2012:
Lamar University Reunion Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a High School Golden Triangle area minority student who will attend Lamar University beginning fall 2012. Applications are available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: May 5, 2012.
2. Babineaux Family Foundation – Applicants must submit a 250 word essay explaining your personal goals for a future in Business. Also, explain why you would be a competitive candidate for a summer internship with The Babineaux Family Foundation. Applications are available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: May 1, 2012.
Alpha Omega Omega Chapter – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Applicants must submit an official transcript; a type written essay; and three letters of reference. Applications are available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Completed applications should be returned to Mrs. Hudson on or before April 9, 2012.
Charles & Lewis Endowment Scholarship -$1000.00 scholarship available to a deserving student attending a Historical Black College/University in the fall of 2012. The applicant must be accepted as a full-time student at a Historical Black College/University, submit a 250 word essay based on the title: “HBCU’s: A True Love Story”, and must have a “B” average. Applications available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: May 11, 2012.
2. Memorial High School PTSA Scholarship- Applications available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: April 30, 2012.
3. North Port Arthur Rotary Scholarship – Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who plan to attend Lamar University (Beaumont), Lamar State College-Port Arthur, Lamar State College-Orange, or Lamar Institute of Technology (Beaumont). Applications are available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: May 11, 2012
4. Jeremy Maxson Scholarship - Applicants must submit proof of acceptance to an accredited college, university, or technical program. Applications are available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: April 27, 2012
5. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. - Xi Upsilon Chapter – Applicants must submit a 500-1000 word essay relating to the four cardinal principles of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.: manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift, giving specific examples of how you exemplify those characteristics in your daily life. Applications are available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: Applications must be returned to Mrs. Hudson by 3:15 p.m. May 4, 2012.

2. TOTAL Petrochemicals &Refining USA, Inc. - TOTAL’S Minority Community Action Committee will award scholarships to Lamar Institute of Technology to Port Arthur high school seniors who provide leadership and service to their schools and community. Applicants must have a minority status; a GPA of 2.8/4.0; and plan to attend LIT and enroll in the Process Operator Technology Program or Instrumentation Technology Program on a full-time basis. 3. Delta Zeta Boule of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity –This $1500.00 scholarship will provide financial assistance to college-bound seniors in the class of 2012. BESTBUY Scholarship Program – Scholarships are awarded to students in grades 9-12 who will be attending a college, university or vocational school in the fall immediately following their high school their high school graduation. 2. Beaumont A& M Club – The Beaumont A&M Club is pleased to announce the availability of two $8000 scholarships and several Opportunity Award Scholarships ranging from $1500 to $2000 to Texas A&M University. At the February 28, 2012 meeting of the Beaumont A&M Club, scholarship applications will be distributed. Representatives from the Office of Student Affairs, Corps of Cadets, Financial Aid office, and the Cooperative Education Department will be on hand to answer any questions. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at St. Jude Parish Hall, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, TX. 77706. Students or their immediate family must attend this meeting to receive the scholarship application.
3. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Port Arthur Alumnae Chapter Scholarship & McNeal/Comeaux Scholarship – Applications available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: Must be postmarked prior to March 9, 2012.
4. Lamar State College Port Arthur – Gayle Sims Memorial Scholarship for students planning to attend Lamar State College-PA in the 2012 Fall Semester. Applications are available in Mrs. Hudson’s office D126. Deadline: April 9, 2012.
5. University of Houston, Alumni Association – The University of Houston and all of it constituent groups are excited to support incoming UH freshmen. Students accepted to the university may apply online at www.HoustonAlumni.com/scholarships .

2. SADD National College Scholarship – Must be a member of the local SADD chapter, enrolled of committed to enroll full-time in an accredited college or university during the 2012-2013 academic years. Applications may be completed online at www.sadd.org/scholarship
3. Southeast Texas Association of Black Journalists – The goal of the Southeast Texas Association of Black Journalist is to provide assistance to Southeast Texas African-American students in their pursuit of higher education in the fields of communication and journalism. Applicant must be of Black/African-American descent; have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; present an unofficial transcript of completed course work; and present one letter of recommendation.
