2011 Parent Involvement/Volunteer/Mentor/Sponsor Celebration
The annual celebration was held at the Carl Parker Multi-Purpose Building at Lamar State College on April 19, 2011. The purpose of the event is to show appreciation to those who have served as parent volunteers, mentors and sponsors for the academic, social and emotional benefit to the students of the Port Arthur ISD.
Guest speaker, Mrs. Barbara Babineaux, who is the mother of five children, two of which are currently NFL players, Jordan and Jonathan Babineaux, shared her motivational story with parents and the community. It was a message of hope and perseverance even in difficult times. Mrs. Babineaux left the audience filled with gratitude and determination to continue and believe in your own children as well as to reach out to others.
If you would like to become a member of one of the schools' parent advisory council, please contact the principal or/and counselor at the school you would like to volunteer. Parents received crucial updates from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and School Leadership involving their children from Dr. Morcease Beasley, Deputy Superintendent, and other administrators. Special thanks to Dr. Brenda Coleman for making certain parents were in attendance and for the usage of Memorial High.

May 15, 2008 Carl Parker Multi-Purpose Bld. Lamar State College On May 15, 2008, PAISD honored Title 1 Parent Advisory Councils (and all parent councils), Volunteers, Mentors and Sponsors. The event was coordinated by the Department of External Funding under the leadership of Mr. Melvin Getwood, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative and Support Services. Mr. Bill Leger, Channel 6, served as emcee of this celebration where Mrs. Mary Ann Reid, President, Greater Chamber of Commerce, was the guest speaker. Special Recognition was given to Ms. Fabiola Small, Nationally recognized volunteer. The Honorable Mayor Deloris Prince awarded the city's proclamation to Mrs. Small. Johnny E. Brown, Ph.D., Superintendent of Schools, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to parent involvement councils, volunteers, mentors, and sponsors.
