Phyllis Geans is the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance at Port Arthur ISD (PAISD) where Dr. Johnny E. Brown is the Superintendent. She is also the Chief Financial Officer and responsible for all facets of budgeting and financial matters at the school district. Additionally, she oversees other operational functions such as Transportation and Child Nutrition. She has been in this position since February 2007. Prior to working for PAISD, she was the Interim Budget Director for Lamar University. In 2004, she retired after 26 years from Entergy Texas as the Business & Operations Support Manager. In this role, she reported to President and CEO Joe Domino and had responsibilities for oversight of all Entergy Texas business and financial matters. Phyllis earned her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas in 1985 and her Masters of Art degree in Information Systems Management from Webster University in 1991. She obtained her Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) license in 1988. She is a 2002 graduate of the Wharton/Entergy Executive Program. She is very active in her community participating and/or leading efforts. She is a 2003 graduate of the Leadership of SE Texas class. She has been an active member of the LSET Advisory Council since 2004. In her new role, she serves as the Co-Chair for the LSET Alumni Committee. Phyllis was honored by the YWCA in 2000 for her outstanding service to the community. She has been a member of the United Way Board and has served in various capabilities since 2001. Prior to moving to Beaumont, Phyllis was on the Little Rock Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors for almost 8 years and was a member of the Family Selection Committee for 10 years. She served as Vice President on the Beaumont Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, and the Family Selection Committee Chairperson for this organization for the last 8 years. |
